History and Traditions
Bishop Seabury Academy was founded in 1997 and in the early years, the Seahawks played in a facility known as the "caf-a-gymna-torium". Students had no lockers but had milk crates on a shelf that lined the play/eat/performance/storage area. Often, spiked volleyballs or errant basketballs would knock crates down or end up in the kitchen sink. Fans sat in a single row of chairs around the court and their knees were technically in play!
The school left the Kansas Christian Athletic Association (KCAA) and joined the Kansas State High School Activities Association (KSHSAA) as a full member in 2001. We then moved to our current location (4120 Clinton Parkway) in 2003. Our facilities and size have grown steadily over the years. The school is now 2A in athletic classification. As of 2014, the school has one team state championship (Girls Cross Country - 2011) and several individual state championship (Girls Swimming).
Our facilities have undergone constant improvement since moving to the Clinton Parkway location. Our gym boasts 4 drop down baskets, main and side-by-side volleyball courts, retractable bleachers seating 400+, along with new locker rooms for the boys and girls. We have also redesigned our entryway and filled one trophy case along the way.
